The U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Assistance Centers
in Buffalo and Rochester, in conjunction with local partners, are
hosting a series of breakfast seminars in Buffalo, Rochester, and
Syracuse to help local firms learn about the available tools and
best practices to more effectively market their products and
services both locally and internationally.
The seminars will focus on Web 2.0 and Google Tools for Small
Businesses, Search Engine Optimization Strategies, Localization
vs. Internationalization of Website Content, International Online
Payments Options and Internet Fraud.
Topics Covered:
- How do I decide which markets to target with my website?
- Should I register my website in a foreign country?
- How do foreign search engines rank my website when potential customers do searches?
- Should I pay to rank higher on foreign search engines?
- Should I translate my website for different target audiences
- Should I localize or internationalize my website?
- How do I protect myself against on-line fraud?
Cost: $45 per person, includes continental breakfast.
Speakers:
Joel Reynoso, Director of the Northern New Jersey Export Assistance Center. Joel routinely counsels clients on promoting their websites to overseas buyers and has received specialized training on this topic.
Tom McManus, CEO, KegWorks (Buffalo). KegWorksis a privately held company that distributes draft beer dispensing equipment, bar supplies and products for the hospitality industry. Prior to joining KegWorks in 2005, Tom was a member of the management team of WineISIT, an Internet marketing and data analytics firm for the alcoholic beverage industry. For most of his professional career he has worked as a consultant in the Internet / e-commerce arena. Working for Internet Development firms such as Web Technologies, rTheory and E-Merge Strategies, he was responsible for the sales and implementation of over 50 different internet based projects from small informational web sites to large e-commerce, infrastructure, and multi-lingual applications.
Scott Bass, President, Advanced Language Translation (Rochester). Scott has been working in the international business communications field for over 20 years. He founded Advanced Language Translation in 1994. Scott is a member of the American Translators' Association, the Society for Technical Communications. In January of 2004, ALT achieved ISO 9001 certification under Scott’s guidance in his role as company Quality Systems Manager.
