equipment (OE).
Why Should You Participate?
Istanbul, the historic crossroads of the East and West is ideally
located to present your firm with an outstanding window to the
markets of North Africa, Europe, Middle East, Russia, and the
central Asia countries. Increased consumer demand in the 1990s
and Turkey’s Customs Union agreement with the EU drove rapid
growth of automotive production in Turkey. The growing local
market and promising neighboring export markets attracted foreign
direct investment; as a result, most international vehicle
producers already have production in Turkey. Through J/V
partnerships with local firms, direct investment, and license
agreements, there are currently 19 international vehicle
producers in the Turkish market including Ford, Toyota, Renault,
Fiat, Chrysler, Opel, Honda, Hyundai, Peugeot, MAN, Mercedes,
Isuzu, and Mitsubishi.
The Turkish automotive production capacity has now reached 1.2
million units, and is expected to reach 2 million by 2015. In the
European Union, Turkey ranks as the largest bus producer, the
largest Light Commercial Vehicle producer, and the third largest
truck market.
