Feb 11, 2010, Trade Compliance Best Practices: What Your Peers Are Really Doing. We have all attended seminars and training sessions educating us on government regulations regarding trade compliance. After leaving these events, you’re always wondering ‘What are other companies doing to remain compliant?’ Well, we, the Austin Compliance Group, feel that way too so we decided to set up our own event focusing on what trade compliance professionals in local companies are actually doing today in the face of an ever-changing world of business and trade compliance. Feb. 16 & 17, 2010. ACC Export Education and Growth Program.  The Austin Community College, International Business Institute is offering a two day program for small and medium sized central Texas companies on the basics of exporting. The Program will include how to do market research, how to find target markets, what changes a company might need to make in order to export, the regulations involved in exporting, how to get a product or service overseas, how to finance it, and how to find a foreign partner. The segments will be presented by individuals who have done exporting and who know what small companies need to know in order to be successful exporters. Several students will join the two-day course and be available after the sessions to assist participants with market research and targeting one or more markets for export. The course will run from 8:30-4:30, overall fee for both days is $150, to include material and meals and will be held in downtown Austin at the International Center of Austin. Feb. 22, 2010, The Texas-Israel Cleanovation Conference. A special conference featuring the best Israeli as well as Texas cleantech companies. Due to Israel's scarce natural resources, it is leading the world in water and alternative energy innovations. Also, Israel is the only country where the Chief Scientist is a U.T grad, and he will be a keynote speaker at the event, along with the chairman of ERCOT. March 17, 2010, ITES: Incoterms. At this International Trade Education Series workshop, learn how Incoterms, short for International Commercial Terms, provide standardized definitions of commonly used trade shipping and trade terms that cover issues on control of goods and financial responsibilities such as payment of cargo insurance and freight. Incoterms provide traders with a common set of rules outlining each party’s obligations, thus reducing misunderstandings. April 21, 2010, ITES: Export Licensing for sending Encryption internationally. The US government regulates the transfer of encryption products, technology or software to other countries. At this International Trade Education Series workshop learn about the review and reporting requirements under the encryption regulations. Find out whether your encryption is strong enough to require an export license or weaker to be eligible for any general license requirements from the Bureau of Industry and Security.
