Market Overview
Imports of machinery, equipment, and molds for the plastics industry continued to recover robustly in 2008, totaling 125 million, which represents a 5 percent increase against 2007 figures. A gradual recovery has taken place in the area of injection equipment and blow molding equipment for the soft drink and bottled water industry, which makes these subsectors attractive for U.S. exports. However, U.S.-made machinery is mostly imported into Argentina for extrusion processes.
